The Call That Made History - 3 Times Over

Last night I sat in on a call led by the great Rich Schefren. Rich is a marketing/business coach that has helped a tremendous amount of entrepreneurs get started or re-tool their businesses.

What was so amazing about the call was that Rich was able to get 13...count them 13 different marketing experts to come on the call and walk through 4 basic questions from Rich:

1. What has constrained you in your business?
2. How did you overcome that constraint?
3. What was the financial result of overcoming the constraint?
4. What was the "take-away" that you found from the process?

People like Mike Filsaime, Tellman Knudson, Brad Fallon, Liz Thompson and Frank Kern stepped up to the plate and provided an amazing look into their life and business.

For two hours we who sat on the call learned from the best out there in the marketing arena.

I took over 10 pages of notes!!

The Seasons Are Changing...How About You?

Hey Folks! I trust everyone is having a great week so far. Mine has been good...very good indeed!

I've introduced you to Lynn Andrews before. She is a powerful Shaman, writer, speaker,adventurer.

I studied Native American Spirituality with one of her Sisters.

This post is longer than usual, but WELL worth the read!

Summer is waning, that time when all that blooms is transforming itself, changing and letting go. Summer is a time of mirrors. It is a time when you take action, and yet remain still within your being. These mirrors celebrate your reflection and teach you what is needed to complete the cycle of seasons in the fall and winter. The end of summer is the fulcrum balance point for the seasonal year.

In the fall, it is a time of gathering, a time of great beauty, and a time of change and letting go. So often we are terrified of change, not only because of the mystery of the unknown but because change implies letting go of what we do know and what we have always held as a kind of security in our lives. Even bad habits can provide a kind of security.

Ani said to me, "Reflection is a beautiful word, don't you think?" She had given me a small shield which caught the sunlight with its mirrors, and I was examining it as we talked. "Reflection means thinking about things in the past or the future. To reflect does not necessarily mean to think about things that really exist. Reflection could also mean a mirroring, yes?"

"Yes," I said, wondering what she was getting at.

"This shield is a mirror for the sun. Now you see the sun reflected in its face and now you don't." I held the small shield up to catch the sunlight, then a cloud layer moved over the hills and the sun was obscured from sight. "There, you see, let the sun go away. It has moved behind a cloud. You are attached to the sunlight, the same way you are dwelling in the past.

"Look into the mirror," she commanded. I looked into the mirror and saw my face. "Has the reflection of your face changed this mirror one bit?"

"No" I answered.

"Has the mirror changed or altered because it once reflected the sun or even the face of God?"

"Well, no." I said, bewildered.

Ani reached for my camera and snapped a few pictures. "The film in this camera clings to your image, forever obsessed with you. The mirror reflects your image now, but it is different from the film that also reflects your face. The mirror is not obsessed with the past like the film. It reflects life, whatever is put in front of it. When that reality shifts and changes, the mirror is left unchanged. It simply sees the new reality. It seems me, does it change me?"

"Yes, perhaps," I answered.

"That's right. Mirrors can change us greatly, because they enable us to see things that we may not have noticed. But remember this, the mirror never changes. The mirror is the sacred witness to everything that chooses to be reflected within its sphere. It has much to teach you.

"Lynn," she continued. "To become enlightened is to become like a mirror. If you have reflected the sun and the sun sets, you can happily reflect the moon. We leak most of our power by the attachment to the images we reflect. We are like the film in the camera. If we become a famous healer in our life, we become a healer, not a woman living her medicine who happens to have developed the gifts of healing. It is the same for everyone - bankers, doctors, housewives. We never see who we are. We are obsessed with our own reflection."

"Is the mirror the source of our reflection?" I asked.

"Only God is the source, and like the mirror we are mirror images of God. The mirror enables us to understand the nature of ourselves, of God. That is all. It is a sacred tool, a device for reflection, just as this physical body is a sacred tool or device for the process of enlightenment into the higher realms. Our physical existence provides mirrors for learning. The mirror is part of the teaching."

The seasons of Mother Earth are a great teacher, showing us that there is a time to plant the seeds of new life and nurture them into existence, a time for full bloom, a time to harvest and look at what we have created as we reflect on where it has taken us in our lives, and a time to move within to dream into existence the seeds for the next part of our journey towards enlightenment. We are now in late summer, still the time of full bloom and moving towards autumn. Fall is a time of reckoning, a time of reflection, a time when all you have sown and all that has blossomed is now to be reaped. Did you find yourself growing in some way this year? What are the mirrors in your life, what do they reflect for you?

In the Northern Hemisphere, we are standing in full radiance and bloom. Do you feel a sense of accomplishment at what you are doing? In the Southern Hemisphere, you are moving into the planting season for the new growth that is to become. Whether you live in the north or the south of our great Mother Earth, a subtle shift now begins occur.

In the north, the days are still warm, but the sun becomes less intense. Leaves begin to change color, going from deep green to a pale yellow, reds and golds. The grasses become lighter, reflecting a golden color like the sun. It is not quite full autumn, but summer is no longer at its peak. Look into the mirror of summer now and see how you have grown wiser over the past few months.

In the south, the days are beginning to warm up, the sun stay out for longer. Leaves begin to grow again, and the grasses are already pushing through.

Wherever you live, there's a wisdom within you that has been growing over the past season, and you begin to express it, like summer shifting into early autumn. Celebrate what you have experienced and are about to experience. You know what life is about, and yet you are humble, ready to move forward.

Great Spirit, whose voice we hear in the winds and the trees, Mother Earth, whose breath gives us life:

Help us to walk in beauty and strength and to learn the lessons that are hidden in the stones and the trees and the waters of the sea. Give us the strength to fight our greatest enemy - ignorance.

Great Spirit, hear the sounds of our grateful hearts, and help us to find the wisdom and joy and power that is locked within each of our souls.

We are the reflections of you, Great Spirit. Join us on our path as we join you for all the days of our lives.

Giving Blood As a Spiritual Experience

I gave blood on Friday.

It was a spiritual experience.

Each year my wife's company sponsors a blood drive at their corporate office. The American Red Cross comes and sets up shop.

This is the second time I have volunteered (ok...my wife volunteered me!) to give.

As I was walking from the parking lot to the building, I had what I can only call a "spiritual" experience. It was so intense that I had to stop for a moment and reflect on what was taking place in my spirit.

I felt connected.

Connected to something greater than myself.

It was more than just satisfaction or happiness at what I was about to do. It was a feeling, an impression, an opening to something deep within the recesses of my spirit.

I felt at one with the Universe.

Since Friday I have reflected on the meaning of this experience.

All I was doing was volunteering to give of myself in hopes that it will help someone else in a time of need.

You should know...I HATE needles! Me and sharp object being stuck into my body do not often see eye to eye.

Yup...I am a 6'4", 240 pound CHICKEN!

But somehow I know that giving blood is almost an elemental need within the human experience. None of us can function without this "life-giving" resource.


Thoughts On Spirituality
"Spirituality" has so often been defined as something that we engage in or participate in. It is something we "do"

Spirituality has also been defined as humankind's attempt to understand and give voice to a relationship with something outside of itself. While we know that our spirit is "within" us, we often talk of spiritual things as something from without.

we define our spirituality by who we "are."

We say:

* My spirituality comes from the Christian tradition


* I believe in God


* I am a Buddhist


* I grew up a Southern Baptist


* I am Muslim


* I am an Atheist


We define ourselves by what we believe.

More often than not, we go further and define our spirituality by an affiliation with a group or organization

On Friday, as I walked up to the building, I was not a former Baptist, or Buddhist or practicing Catholic. As I stood there in the middle of a parking lot ready to give of myself - I was swallowed up by something so deep within me that I could not find voice for the experience of it.

My religion did not define me. My notions of what I believe ceased for a short moment and I was taken to a place of utter and full transcendence.

The immanence of the moment was overtaken by the transcendence of the spiritual act that I was about to perform.

My spirituality is not defined by who I am, what I believe or what organization to which I belong.

For me, spirituality is something I do.

It is a million points of light given for the betterment of those outside of myself.

Spirituality is not static...it is active...not a noun...but a verb.

GO and DO.

7 Principles of SPIRIT Business: Soul, Power and the Law of Attraction

Hi Everybody!

Sorry for not having posted in a few days. I woke one morning to a computer virus and the next day to a personal virus.

I'm glad to say that I have nursed both my computer and myself back to health!

My inspiration for today's topic comes from Andrea Conway of http://www.successfulselfemployment.com. I love Andrea's work, her teaching style and her writings.

As you know, this Facebook Group is all about the intersection of Spirituality and Business. I believe that true success and happiness in our business world is rooted in our relationship to Spirit.

With that thought in mind, here are 7 Principles of what I call SPIRIT Business:

1. Your Inspiration For Your Product or Service Must Come From Spirit.

2. Spirit Inspired Products or Services Will Have a Market.

3. Spirit, Through The Law of Attraction, Brings Perfect Customers To You.

4. Through Spirit You Have a Connection With Your Customer Before You Meet.

5. You Can Continue to Connect Soul-to-Soul With Your Customer.

6. Your Prosperity Is Found in Spirit, But It Comes Through People.

7. Abundant Business Comes to You Through Your Integrity and Service.

I have purposely left out any explanation of each of the 7 Principles for two reasons.

First, each of these principles means something different to each person reading them. Your understanding of the Principle is the correct understanding.

Second, it is my hope that a lively discussion about the Principles will take place within the Group. To facilitate this, I have posted this message on the discussion board.

Pooh always ate well. His level of attraction was immense
and the entire forest circled around him because in contrast
to everyone else, he appeared very important.

And strong.

Eeyore was negative. Piglet was such a nervous little fellow
and always hesitated. The Rabbit "hustled" people and was
calculating, while the Owl pontificated and never walked his talk.

His words therefore had no value.

The study of Pooh proves
that SELF commitment always wins.

Amen.

Commitment to SELF is not arrogance or pride.

The Law of Attraction simple states that for others to be attracted to you and thereby be in a position to receive your help and increase...

you must be ATTRACTIVE!

We are only attractive when we DO NOT display the negativity of Eeyore, the low self-esteem of Piglet, the "get over on you" attitude of the Rabbit and the shallowness of the Owl.

Here's a simple truth:

When you get more of YOU, you will get more of what you WANT.

Two Kids and a Big Ol' Vine

When I was a kid I loved to swing on vines in the woods with my best friend, Kirk.

We would wander out into the woods next to his house, find a vine and start swinging.

The best ones were the ones closest to a ravine. Swinging way out over the ravine...watching our lives pass before our young lives...praying that the vine would hold and not fling us into sticker bushes, rocks and god only knows what.

The trust of kids. Trusting in the vine.

I thought of those experiences this morning as I was meditating on this verse from the Bible.

"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing." John 15:5

If you are abiding in Him, God gives you the desires of your heart. You can only receive what comes through the vine. If your delight is right, your desire will also be right. If your delight is wrong, your desire will be wrong.

Your success will not come from your rules, your religion, your rituals, or your regimen. Your success will come because of your relationship to the vine.

Abide in the Vine.

Trust in the Divine.

The greater your relationship, the greater your results.

Kirk would be proud.
