"Free" pages or blogs can often limit your ability to be creative
and many don't allow you to "monetize" your page or blog..
if you are going to invest a "lot" of time into "branding" your name and domain..
you may want to cosider a hosted blog like wordpress, they are inexpensive and you won't have to worry about "starting from scratch", once you gain some recognition
